'Fan talaga ang kapatid ko': Andrea Brillantes' sister defends star's promposal to Ricci Rivero during BLACKPINK concert

Andrea Brillantes' sister defended the local star from public criticism after the latter's "promposal" sign was noticed by BLACKPINK during their recently concluded Philippine concert.

In a now-deleted Instagram story, Kayla Aan Gorostiza defended her sibling's right to enjoy the concert regardless of her celebrity status.

"Gusto niya lang maging super special ang first prom niya. Let her be," she began.

"'Di talaga ako nagrereact sa mga ganitong bash but damn, leave my sister alone, you bitter people. She's allowed to be a fan girl," Aan wrote in reaction to a basher who commented "the design is very papansin" on Andrea's viral promposal to her boyfriend, basketball star Ricci Rivero for the upcoming Star Magical Prom under ABS-CBN’s talent agency Star Magic.

"Yes, 'yun naman talaga point. Fan talaga ang kapatid ko, masama ba kung nag-try siya magpapansin sa idols niya? Aminin na natin, lahat tayo gusto nating mapansin tayo ng BLACKPINK, ok???" the post read.

She went on to note that Andrea lined up at the Philippine Arena in the morning "just like everyone else," and printed six banners in both English and Filipino to pull off her promposal for her first prom.

"Artista siya, yes. Pero hindi ibig sabihin no'n eh bawal na siyang umasta na parang normal na tao. If 'normal fan' 'yan, y'all would be saying 'cute,'" she said.

Andrea and Ricci attended the Philippine leg of BLACKPINK's Born Pink concert in Bulacan on Sunday, March 26.

Midway through the show, K-pop idols Rosé and Lisa noticed the Pinoy celebrity's "promposal" sign, which led to mixed reactions among Flipino BLINKs.

“Please go to prom with that girl,” Rosé said onstage. She then read the sign out loud: “I just wanna ask Ricci Rivero, will you go to prom with Andrea?”

Andrea is a certified BLINK since 2016. She dyed her hair like Jennie from the group's How You Like That comeback in June 2020 and got surprised with Born Pink tickets from Aan. She also previously revealed that BLACKPINK was the reason she became a fan of BTS. "Alam mo yung dahil fan ako ng BLACKPINK, siyempre nakikita ko BTS tapos nagkaroon ako ng obsession sa kanila. Kaso binash ako ng buong ARMY dahil lang nagustuhan ko ang BTS," she said in a vlog.

BLACKPINK's ongoing world tour is the second global event headlined by the iconic quartet to promote their second Korean studio album release, Born Pink. It started on Oct. 15, 2022, in Seoul, South Korea, and will conclude on June 17 in Sydney, Australia.

BLACKPINK, consisting of Rosé, Jennie, Lisa and Jisoo, debuted in 2016 under YG Entertainment. They’re best known for their hit songs How You Like ThatKill This Love, and DDU-DU DDU-DU.
