Star Magic to take legal action vs makers of 'deepfake' photos, videos of BINI members
Star Magic has vowed to take legal action against persons who produce deepfake photos and videos of members of the P-pop girl group BINI.
The talent agency released a statement on Monday, Sept. 2 regarding the deepfake content of BINI members spreading on social media.
"It has come to our attention that there are malicious, edited deepfake photos and videos of BINI members circulating on social media," they began in the statement.

The talent agency stressed that they “strongly condemn these harmful acts,” and said that they are taking appropriate action.
"Our team has already taken action to remove some of these accounts. We are working with the proper government agencies and authorities to identify the individuals behind these acts and pursue legal action," the statement read.
They added that the safety and well-being of the members is their “top priority."
"We will continue to monitor and take all necessary measures against any form of exploitation or harassment," they said.
This comes after Blooms (BINI’s fandom name) called to protect the girls against users posting inappropriate content and statements online. The #SMProtectBINI landed on the top spot of trending topics on X, with over 166,000 posts as of writing.
Before this, the agency had previously warned the public in April that they would take legal action over online attacks against the girl group and P-pop boy group BGYO.
Atty. Joji Alonso, the legal counsel of ABS-CBN's talent management arm Star Magic, said at the time that they have tapped concerned agencies against “emboldened bashers who circulate unfounded rumors” targeting the said groups.
BINI is an eight-member girl group composed of Maloi, Colet, Sheena, Jhoanna, Mikha, Gwen, Aiah, and Stacey. They debuted in 2021 with the single Born to Win.
