Miss Jamaica suffered intracranial hemorrhage in fall during Miss Universe 2025 prelims; set to return home

Miss Jamaica 2025 Gabrielle Henry remains in a Bangkok hospital suffering from the effects of an intracranial hemorrhage, which she sustained after a fall during a Miss Universe 2025 preliminary event. She is set to return to Jamaica soon, according to the Miss Universe Organization.

The MUO gave the update in a statement released on Dec. 8, on behalf of Henry's family, as well as the organization.

"Dr. Henry suffered a serious fall through an opening on the stage while performing her walk during the preliminary competition on Nov. 19, 2025, resulting in an intracranial hemorrhage with loss of consciousness, a fracture, facial lacerations, and other significant injuries," it read.

She was rushed to the intensive care unit of a Bangkok hospital, and remained in critical condition. Henry's current condition requires 24-hour specialist supervision.

The MUO assured that it continues to cover Henry and her family's expenses, including all Henry's hospital, medical, and rehabilitation needs, as well as her sister and mother's accommodation and living costs in Thailand. The organization will also fund Henry, who is an ophthalmologist, and her family's flight to Jamaica, which was arranged by the hospital, and has committed to covering the beauty queen's future medical expenses related to her accident.

In reports following the incident, one of the contestants was quoted as saying an MUO staffer blamed Henry for falling off the stage. The MUO also sought to clear this up in its statement.

"Certain media reports suggesting that Dr. Henry contributed in any way to the incident are entirely inaccurate. The Miss Universe Organization has never attributed blame to Dr. Henry and confirms that those suggestions are unfounded and do not reflect the facts," it said.

Henry, 28, an ophthalmologist, was walking across the stage during the pageant's last preliminary round before coronation night when she suddenly fell into the orchestra pit. She was pulled out on a stretcher and immediately brought to the hospital. She wasn't able to participate in the tilt's finals.
