Meghan Markle's estranged father wishes to reunite the whole family: 'I love all my children'

Meghan Markle's estranged father, Thomas Markle, has expressed a desire to reconcile with his family and has stated that he harbors no "ill will" towards his daughter.

Thomas, who has spoken negatively about his daughter in the past, told Daily Mail that while he doesn't like "some of the things my daughter has done," he will "always love her."

"My door is always open to her. I love her and that will never change. I love all my children," he said.

The 80-year-old retired lighting director reflected on aging, saying he seeks to move to a place outside America "where the people are lovely and I can enjoy a quieter, friendlier existence."

"Mostly I just want peace. At 80, none of us know how long we have left," he said, noting that he wants "whatever time I have to be peaceful with none of the awful drama of recent years."

Thomas said he is "not running away," but is looking for a "more positive life."

"Every day I see something about Meghan. This week it has been the new TV show," he said.

"I wish her no ill will. My dream is that one day I could bring my whole family together, like a 'normal' family," Thomas continued.

The interview follows the Duchess' recent return to Instagram and the release of a trailer for her new lifestyle program on Netflix called With Love, Meghan.

Meghan and Thomas have been estranged since 2018, around the time of her marriage to Prince Harry.

During that time, Thomas garnered significant online attention after it was discovered that he had allegedly staged paparazzi photographs in the days leading up to the ceremony. He was unable to attend the wedding as he experienced a heart attack the day before the wedding.

Meghan claimed to CBS that UK tabloids engaged in a prolonged effort to locate and give money to her father "for over a year" as she prepared to join the royal family.

With Love, Meghan premieres on Jan. 15 and will feature appearances from celebrities including Mindy Kaling and Meghan's former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer.

The eight-episode series will see the Suits star share tips on cooking, gardening, crafting, flower arranging, and hosting.
