Last March, global tech bosses, industry titans, Bollywood stars, pop stars, and politicians gathered for a pre-wedding party hosted by Mukesh.

Guests included singer Rihanna, Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan, and former United States president Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka Trump.

Mukesh is the chairman of Reliance Industries, India's biggest company by market capitalization.

He inherited a thriving industrial enterprise spanning oil, gas, and petrochemicals from his father and grew it into a commercial behemoth with lucrative interests in retail, telecommunications, and an Indian Premier League cricket team.

He has a net worth of over $116 billion, making him the world's 10th richest person.

His son Anant, 28, is a director on the boards of several Reliance-owned firms. He will reportedly have a lavish three-day wedding ceremony with Merchant, 29, from July 12 to 14 at their family home Antilia, a 27-floor skyscraper that reportedly cost at least $1 billion (P56 billion) and their 16,000-capacity Jio World Convention Center.

In 2018, Mukesh held India's most expensive wedding to date. It reportedly cost $100 million (P5.6 billion) and saw US pop megastar Beyonce perform.
