Eugene Domingo on spending 8 years in college: ‘Never kong pinagsisihan’
Eugene Domingo shared that one of the best decisions she’s ever made was finishing her degree no matter how long it took.
The award-winning actress opened up more about her life in her first YouTube vlog, where she answered the “most searched” information about her as well as vlog requests from her followers.
“Kung meron akong desisyon sa buhay na never kong pinagsisihan is ‘yung tinapos ko ‘yung education ko,” she said in her recent vlog.
Domingo earned her degree in Theater Arts at the University of the Philippines Diliman.
“I spent eight years, I think, in college,” she said. “Yes, nag-overstay ako. Ang sarap sa university eh,” she quipped.
Other than UP, the Kimmy Dora star shared that she also studied at Polytechnic University of the Philippines for a year.
“Mahilig talaga ako sa state university. Ayoko talagang gumastos masyado ‘pag nag-aaral lalo na nung college kasi wala naman talaga akong pambayad,” she said. “Gusto ko lang talagang makatapos ng kolehiyo na may diploma.”
In her previous interview with Boy Abunda, Domingo shared that the first play she ever did was 12 Angry Women under the university’s theater company, Dulaang UP, where she worked as the assistant stage manager and played the role of a security guard.
She got her first movie exposure in the 1990s with the film, Divide by 2 by Ishmael Bernal, produced by UP Film Center, portraying the maid of Charo Santos’ character.
Her first starring role was in the hit film Kimmy Dora in 2009. It spawned two other films Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kiyeme (2012) and Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel (2013).
She was recently announced as part of the cast of Into The Woods, where she will take the role of Jack's mother in the local production. The play will be staged from Aug. 7 to 24 at Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Makati. There will be a limited engagement run of 18 shows.
