Alma Concepcion recounts dog bite incident involving her and her son
Alma Concepcion shared her experience after getting bitten by her pet dog.
On Instagram, the actress recalled being bitten on the cheek by her dog, Sniper, while cuddling him on Sunday, Feb. 23.
“Yesterday morning, [I] was cuddling my dog and then he bit me. It was my first time to be bitten. I was just hugging him & resting my head on his shoulder when this happened. My dog (Sniper) grew up with me since he was 4 months old (and now he is 4yo.),” she wrote.
The short clip included a photo of her showing the bite on her left cheek, a photo of her beagle-Shih Tzu mix dog, and footage of her in a clinic getting an anti-rabies shot.
In the same video, the Lolong actress shared that Sniper had previously bitten her son Cobie when he accidentally leaned on him.
“Lesson for us here in the house, that we won't cuddle him anymore. Probably we can just pet him & give him some [caressing] but definitely no more hugging from now on,” she continued. “[I’m] sad [about] this change.”
Despite the incident, Alma said their dog was kind and seemed very sorry for the incident.
“He used to sleep with me on my bed but [I] think [I] have to stop that also since this might happen again if my legs accidentally move while [I’m] asleep,” she added, noting that the dog is vaccinated.
Alma advised her followers about post-bite anti-rabies vaccination, emphasizing it's available for free at public hospitals.
“[I] learned so much from Nurse Jun & Dr. Joel of Batasan Hills Super Health Center that getting a vaccination after a bite IS NOT an emergency thing. As long as you get your shots as soon as you can (getting within [a] 24-hour period is NOT TRUE at all), is fine,” she wrote, sharing that she only got vaccinated on the following day.
The actress reassured her followers, saying there's no need to panic and that they have up to two days to get vaccinated, but emphasized it must be before the 10th day.
“And of course, the government has free injections, just google the one in your district. In [Quezon City] they have one [in] each district. So yes, my son & I got ours for FREE,” she concluded.
On Feb. 26, the actress also posted a video of her dog who is seen snuggling to her. “Sniper is sorry na,” she wrote in the caption.
In the post’s comments section, some social media users advised that Alma should get her dog checked by a veterinarian for possible injury or disease, which may have triggered the biting.
