Former NCT member Taeil to face first trial this May

The first trial for former NCT member Moon Taeil, who was indicted on charges of sexually assaulting a woman, has been set for May.

According to Star News, the Seoul Central District Court's 26th Criminal Division (Division D) will hold the initial hearing for Taeil and two others on May 12.

This follows the formal indictment of the 30-year-old K-pop star and his alleged accomplices on February 28 by the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office for violating the Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes.

The Seoul Bangbae Police Station, which received the report in June 2024, applied for their warrants. However, it was denied by the court as "they had admitted to the crime, reducing the need for detention."

Following police questioning in August 2024, Taeil departed from NCT, with his agency, SM Entertainment, stressing that it "could no longer continue our team activities" with him. They terminated his contract in October 15, saying that his criminal case "not only constitutes grounds for termination under our contract but also makes it impossible to maintain trust in him as an artist."

Taeil became a member of NCT in 2016. He was also a member of its sub-group NCT 127. He is the fourth member to leave NCT following Lucas, Sungchan, and Shotaro in May 2023.
