'He didn't know who I was': Nadine Lustre recalls how she met her beau Christophe Barious
Unless you're living under a rock, you probably know that Nadine Lustre is one of the most admired actresses of her generation. It's either that or you are like her boyfriend Christophe Barious.
In an interview with Monster RX93.1'S All Out, Nadine revealed that the French-Filipino businessman didn't know that she is an actress when they first met in July last year. She clarified, though, that it's because her beau is not into Filipino showbiz.
"He's so ignorant when it comes to that so he doesn't know anything. He didn't know who I was," Nadine recalled.
The two were introduced two each other when their common friend invited them to a villa in Siargao. "Ayun, we were just hanging [out]," she added.
They started cozying up to each other when both of them flew back to Manila after that trip. "When I got back from Siargao, after that trip, he flew [to Manila] and that's when we really like started hanging out," Nadine said.
"We just never stopped talking and I think that's one of the things that I love about our dynamics. We always have something to talk about," she continued. "It's funny how in sync we are. We like the same things. [We're like] two peas in a pod."
Seven months prior to meeting Christophe, Nadine and James Reid confirmed that they have broken up after three years of being together.
In her interview with the radio station, Nadine said she "just knew" that she was ready to start a new relationship, and with Christophe at that. "You don't have to sit down and think about it long and hard. It is what it is," she remarked.
Rumors of Nadine and Christophe's relationship began circulating online when a photo of them eating in a "karinderya" in Siargao went viral last August.
Five months later, in January 2021, Nadine confirmed their relationship in an Instagram post. While the couple has since kept their romance lowkey, the actress said that she didn't intend to keep it confidential.
She explained, "There was really no use hiding it kasi you can't. We're always hanging out. People are always taking photos. I mean, it's understandable because they've never seen me with someone else so it's kind of weird that I'm hanging out with this other dude so I get it. There's really no intention of hiding it in the first place."
Now, Nadine is proud to describe their relationship as one that is in perfect balance. "We talk about a lot of stupid stuff. He loves memes; I love memes. He likes watching funny videos; I love watching funny videos. I learn a lot from him and with him... It's just always fun hanging out with him," she said
