Heart Evangelista claps back at critics over her dog wearing P10M jewelry: 'I own the necklace'

Heart Evangelista responded to critics who slammed her for letting her dog, Panda, wear a necklace valued at around P10 million and posting about it on her social media.

In an Instagram live session, the actress and socialite addressed the negative comments she received about the necklace and reminded viewers that the item belongs to her.

"I own the necklace you know, I can do whatever I want then pull it out. Basically, Panda owns the necklace, so hindi siya loan, she can do whatever she wants with it," Heart stressed.

She added that Panda is her "most spoiled baby girl," and expressed confusion over why people are upset about her putting diamonds on the dog.

"These aspins are rescue dogs, they deserve the world. I like to elevate their look, and why not? Siya naman ang totoong tagapagmana. Minana niya ‘yun so she can do whatever she wants, so I don’t understand what the deal is," Heart said.

Heart made headlines last week after she flaunted her furbaby wearing a Bulgari Serpenti Viper piece that costs around P10 million, according to the luxury house's official website.

The 18-karat white gold piece is fully paved with diamonds and pays tribute to Bulgari’s spirit animal, the serpent, which "coils around the neck, striking with the precious beauty of its scales and the distinctive sinuosity of the snake."

"Heiress," she captioned her post, tagging her dog's Instagram handle.

Heart's post garnered mixed reactions from users, with some followers amused by the photo.

"Ms. Heart, pa-adopt na lang din ako," an Instagram user wrote.

"Paano maging aso ni Heart?" another user commented.

However, others criticized the star for flaunting her wealth insensitively.

"Sobrang out of touch ni Heart Evangelista! If you own an P11.9 million necklace, maybe think twice before letting a dog wear it and flaunting it on social media," one user blasted.

"Flexing the Bulgari when Filipinos are told they can survive on a daily food allowance of P64. Poor taste!" another wrote.

Many fans, however, defended Heart, agreeing that she has the right to do as she pleases with her possessions.

"Nothing is disrespectful here. I am a fur parent too. I won't mind letting mg dogs wear expensive jewelry because I love them," one user said.

"I don't care if people thinks it's desrespectful of the craftmanship. But I think the necklace looks great on Panda. It really shows how much heart loves her furbaby and as a person who loves her dog like her own child too I am here for it," another commented.

Heart has been seen wearing the Bulgari Serpenti Viper several times, including during her New York trip in 2021 and her interview on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda last year.
