KC Concepcion cries as she recalls reconnecting with dad Gabby after 15 years
KC Concepcion turned emotional with her dad Gabby as they recalled reconnecting with each other after 15 years.
In a vlog posted on the actor’s YouTube channel on Father’s Day, June 18, the two reminisced about the first time they heard each other’s voices in nearly two decades.
Gabby, who was working in the United States at the time, immediately knew it was KC on the other line when he got a call from an unknown number. “I was in America and the first time you called me, I was doing real estate in California and then nilalabas ko lahat ng gamit ko sa kotse, eh malamig,” he began.
“Nung linalabas ko 'yung mga envelope ko, nilalagay ko sa bubong, biglang nag-ring 'yung telepono. Pagsagot ko nung telepono, may nagsabing ‘Hi, can I speak to Gabby Concepcion, please?’ I said ‘Hi, is this my baby?’ I knew it was you on the phone. I knew it,” he said.
KC then recalled being “so nervous” because she hadn’t heard his voice “in 15 years almost” at the time.
“We haven’t talked kasi for many, many years. When you called that day, it was at the back of my head, sinasabi ko sa sarili ko: ‘One day, hahanapin ako nito. One day, tatawag ‘to. I don’t know when, but one day it’s gonna happen.’ It happened,” said Gabby.
“Maybe it’s at the back of my head already na I knew you were gonna call, I just didn’t know when. I knew it was you and it’s you. ‘Yung lamig—ang lamig-lamig—hindi ko naramdaman ‘yung lamig. I talked to you outside and I didn’t feel the cold until I went inside,” he continued.
KC said she decided to give him a call while she was waiting for the bus to go to school. “Nag-cut class ako that day because nag-usap tayo for the first time—it was the first time we reconnected,” she shared. “It was such a memorable moment for me that I had to miss class.”
“I remember I was crying at the bus stop when we put the phone down kasi natulala ako after then I couldn’t believe na naririnig ko pa rin ‘yung voice mo in my ears even after we put the phone down,” she said as she wiped some tears from her eyes.
KC went on to express her happiness over their reconnection. “You made up for it talaga, like sobra-sobra,” she told Gabby. “You’re very, very involved and very, very present in my life in my adult years so you really made up for all the time we didn’t get to spend together."
"Parang it’s even better now,” she added.
KC is the daughter of Gabby with Megastar Sharon Cuneta. In February this year, KC returned to the Philippines and spent some quality time with her father in Batangas, as seen in one of her Instagram posts.
