Philippines’ Gwendolyne Fourniol concludes Miss World journey
Philippines’ Gwendolyne Fourniol has ended her journey to the Miss World crown.
The beauty queen didn't manage to make it to the Top 40 of the 71st Miss World tilt on Saturday, March 9 in India.
Prior to the coronation night, she was among the Top 23 talent semifinalists and Top 25 finalists of Miss World's Head-to-Head Challenge, where she impressed the jury with her speech that put a spotlight on education as part of her Beauty With A Purpose advocacy.
Fourniol has a strong passion for education. Her mother, Sim Bolivar, grew up in poverty in Kabankalan Negros Occidental, but through the help of the Educational Research and Development Assistance (ERDA) Foundation, she was able to earn a degree in psychology.
Fourniol pursued a bachelor's degree in economics at Oxford Brooks in London, England before she joined the Miss World Philippines pageant and emerged as its winner in 2022. While she didn’t dream of joining pageantry, her mother was able to convince her to give it a shot.
Krystyna Pyszkova of Czech Republic won the highly coveted title at the 71st edition of Miss World, succeeding Karolina Bielawska of Poland.
Actress Megan Young remains as the first and only Pinay winner of Miss World. She won the competition in 2013.
