Published Jan 14, 2026 4:41 pm

Kris Aquino expressed her gratitude after overcoming a medical ordeal in which her lungs briefly stopped functioning during a procedure.

In her Instagram post on Jan. 14, the "Queen of All Media" revealed she stopped breathing for two minutes during a minor PICC (Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter) line procedure. According to Mayo Clinic, PICC is used to administer medicine or liquid nutrition through a vein.

"I haven’t fully processed what happened. It was supposed to be a minor PICC LINE procedure, BUT there was a span of time totaling almost [two] minutes when my lung stopped functioning—I stopped breathing," she wrote.

"I credit my anesthesiologist, my [two] surgeons, and as soon as I awakened, the reassuring face of my rheumatologist, whose concern & love I felt," she added.

She went on to share how a loving gesture from her youngest son, Bimby, made her realize even more deeply how grateful she is to her doctors and to everyone who supported her with their prayers.

"In my post-op recovery room, it was future pediatrician/neurologist/anesthesiologist Bimb’s kiss that made me realize we owe all of you my life—utang namin na buhay pa rin ako, the Holy Spirit guided my doctors and everyone in the OR," Aquino added. She also shared an excerpt from the lyrics of The Beatles' Let It Be.

"THANK YOU for continuing to pray for me to get better, for having FAITH that God will make all things possible," she wrote.

This came a day after she shared her surgery was postponed after her blood pressure spiked on Sunday due to a migraine.

Aquino is battling autoimmune conditions, including fibromyalgia (causing widespread pain), polymyositis (causing muscle weakness), and mixed connective tissue disease (a combination of lupus, scleroderma, and polymyositis). She received treatment in the United States from June 2022 to September 2024 before returning to the Philippines.
