Celine Dion returned to the stage at the 2024 Paris Olympics, marking her first performance in four years amid her battle with stiff person syndrome.
The international superstar concluded the opening ceremony of the annual event with her breathtaking rendition of Hymne A L'Amour (Hymn to Love).
Wearing a beaded white gown with tassels, Celine delivered her flawless performance on the base of the Eiffel Tower after the Olympic cauldron was lit, signifying the start of the Games.
Celine’s last performance before this was in March 2020 in New Jersey.
Variety exclusively reported earlier this week that the iconic pop legend will take the 2024 Paris Olympics stage.
The Canadian singer hinted at her potential comeback in an interview with Vogue France last April but noted it would still depend on her condition.
"As things stand, I can't stand here and say to you: 'Yes, in four months.' I don't know," she said when asked about the possibility of seeing her onstage again. "My body will tell me. On the other hand, I don't just want to wait."
At the time, she also said she was working with a team of medical professionals to ensure she was in the best possible shape to once again visit the Eiffel Tower.
"I’ve chosen to work with all my body and soul, from head to toe, with a medical team. I want to be the best I can be. My goal is to see the Eiffel Tower again!" she shared.
Celine disclosed in December 2022 that she has been diagnosed with stiff person syndrome, which is "a rare, progressive syndrome that affects the nervous system, specifically the brain and spinal cord," according to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. It causes muscle stiffness as well as spasms, normally between the ages of 30 and 60. The symptoms can remain stable in some cases but could get progressively worse in others.
She had to cancel a string of shows scheduled for 2023 and 2024 as she said she was not strong enough to tour.
