Conjoined twin Abby Hensel is married

Published Mar 29, 2024 1:08 pm

Abby Hensel, who became known for her TV guestings with her conjoined twin Brittany, is now married.

Citing public records, TODAY reported on Thursday, March 28, that Abby has been married to nurse and United States Army veteran Josh Bowling since 2021.

Daily Mail also uploaded a video of their first dance as husband and wife on TikTok when the wedding news came out.

Later in the day, Abby and Brittany released a TikTok video showing snaps of sculptures of conjoined twins. "The internet is extra LOUD today," they wrote in the caption with the hashtags #marriage, #love, and #lovestory, among others. "We have always been around."

The two rose to fame in 1996 following their appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show when they were just six years old.

They had their own reality show dubbed Abby & Brittany on TLC in 2012, which revolved around their lives as conjoined twins. The TV offering only had one season.

According to E! News, the two "were born fused together at the torso and remain so as adults."

"They have separate spinal cords, brains, hearts, and other organs but share those located below the waist. Brittany controls the left side of their body, while Abby controls the right," the entertainment outlet reported.

During their birth in 1990, their parents Patty and Mike refused to have them separated via surgery as doctors told them there was little chance for the procedure to be a success.

In a 2003 documentary, Brittany revealed her and Abby's desire to become mothers in the future.

"Yeah, we're going to be moms. We haven't thought about how being moms is going to work yet. But we're just 16, we don't need to think about that right now," she said at the time.
