Singer-actress Issa Pressman has just revealed that she has undergone surgery to remove a "couple" of cysts from her vocal cords.

In a video posted on Instagram on Aug. 3, the Camp Sawi star said that she is currently recovering from the procedure which requires her to take a complete vocal rest for three months.

Issa stated, "Ola, guys. I'm just posting this video to let everyone know that just in case you see me, sitting in a corner, not being sociable, or just being quiet and not talking at all, that's just because I'm healing from an operation."

"So I grew a cyst on my vocal cord that's about to be removed, and by the time I have posted this video, it's already out," she continued.

In the caption of her post, Issa wrote that the cyst found on her throat was not just one, "there were a couple." She also said that the operation was completed through a small incision.

Issa noted that more than the physical pain, what she found more difficult was having to go through the anxiety of the results of her surgery.

She continued, "I think what was major was the anxiety leading up to it, the uncertainty of how much my voice will change, the sensitive healing process."

Issa went on to say in her video that during the recovery stage, she is "not allowed to talk for two weeks," in addition to taking a "vocal rest and vocal rehab for three months."

"That means no crazy talking and singing also," the VIVA talent added.

Although the operation forbids her from releasing music in the next couple of music, the 26-year-old artist stays optimistic about her complete healing.

"There's a lot for the healing process, but it's gonna be fun and I'm gonna be okay," she said, noting in the caption of her post that she has been "sleeping well, eating even better, and healing good."

"Just letting you guys know just in case you think I'm sungit or antisocial [or] whatever, this is my reason so I'll see you guys," Issa said before giving her followers a flying kiss on her video.

According to the Los Angeles-based Osborned Health & Neck Institute, trauma or injury is a common cause of the formation of vocal cord cysts. This injury may be caused by voice overuse or misuse, which includes practicing a poor technique in singing or shouting often. It can also develop from coughing or smoking and as a result of acid reflux.

Common symptoms are chronic voice hoarseness, throat pain, and voice fatigue. In addition to these, singers can also experience a significant decrease in their range inability to hold a pitch steady, and inability to sing quietly.

The University of Michigan Health states that vocal cord cysts can be treated in two ways: through surgery or non-surgical options, particularly voice rest and voice therapy.

Surgery is then recommended if the patient does not respond to voice therapy. The procedure is called phonomicrosurgery and involves the insertion of a tube, called laryngoscope, through the mouth. This minimally invasive procedure usually takes about one hour and, as Issa told her fans, recovery takes 30 to 90 days for singers.
