Izzy Trazona thanks supporters amid backlash: 'It’s not easy for the family'
Former Sexbomb Girls member Izzy Trazona-Aragon has spoken out amid the backlash surrounding her husband, Alvin Aragon, following his anti-LGBTQIA+ remarks.
In her Facebook post on Feb. 18, Izzy thanked her supporters amid the criticism her husband has been receiving over the past few days.
"Salamat sa lahat ng pm and encouragement! God bless everyone," she wrote, including a photo of their family in the post.
Izzy admitted their current situation is "not easy," and that they rely on their faith to get by.
"It’s not easy for the whole family…. but gumigising everyday by the strength that God gives," she began in her caption. "By grace na hindi naman namin deserve, but patuloy na kumakapit sa mga pangako ng Diyos. At patuloy na nakatingin sa ginawa ni Jesus to save sinners like us," she added.
She went on to say that their family is "not perfect."
"Actually, the name of our gc sa Messenger is 'the imperfect family,' kaya ganon na lang ang pagkapit sa salita Niya. Kasi hindi ko alam kung saan kami pupulutin apart from His word," she added.
Sofia: 'Nasaktan na rin ako'
For her part, Sofia said that she still respects Alvin, but stressed she's hurt by his remarks.
“I respect you kasi asawa ka ng nanay ko, and hindi magbabago ‘yun,” she said in her interview with Ogie Diaz. “Let’s just keep it that way kasi nasaktan na rin ako eh.”
“Grabe naman ‘yung tingin sa amin,” she lamented. “Hindi naman kami nagnakaw. Hindi naman kami pumatay ng tao. Nagtatrabaho naman kami nang maayos. Wala naman kaming tinatapakan na ibang tao.”
“Kung gusto ko man siya idefend, mahihirapan ako, grabe niya rin i-condemn ang mga bakla,” she added. “Ang ironic naman na sa’kin manggagaling.”
Alvin's remarks vs the LGBTQIA+ community
Alvin, who is also a StarStruck season one alum, made rounds online after talking about Izzy's firstborn from her previous marriage, trans woman Sofia Trazona.
"Ang daming bash ni Izzy; doon pa lang sa anak niya naging... pinili ang direksyong maging bading, ang dami nang bash, eh. Hindi raw tinanggap kasi bading," said Alvin during his interview on a radio program Jugo Live!
"Totoo naman, eh. Ano ba sabi sa Bible? God judged [homosexuality]. Read [Genesis] 17, 18, and 19. Those men in Sodom and Gomorrah [want] to have sex with other men. And God judged that Sodom and Gomorrah even until now."
Alvin also made remarks about why Izzy left Sexbomb Girls in 2009.
"Sino ang nagpa-resign sa SexBomb? Ang Panginoon, nu'ng naging Christian si Izzy. Pina-resign ng Lord. Sabi ng Lord kay Izzy, 'Come follow me, I will make you fishers of men.' Nag-obey si Izzy du'n," he said.
"Ano pa? Sayaw. Merong wholesome na sayaw, merong sayaw na seducing. Sige, sumayaw ka ng seducing. Ano'ng mararamdaman ng lalaki 'pag may sumasayaw na seducing ang atake. Iba nararamdaman natin. Alam niyo 'yan, men. So umiwas si Izzy doon," he added. "Matagal nang wala si Izzy [sa SexBomb Girls]. 'Wag mo kong sisihin na dahil sa 'kin kaya wala siya sa concert."
Izzy and Alvin got married in 2012. They share three children.
