Vice Ganda to serve as guest of honor at UP CMC's recognition rites on July 5
Vice Ganda will be the guest of honor at the recognition rites of the University of the Philippines - College of Media and Communication this weekend.
UP CMC's graduation committee announced the box-office actor-comedian as the guest of honor for the "Dagitab" recognition day happening on Sunday, July 5, at UP Cine Adarna.
UP CMC VOX captioned its post.
Vice Ganda finished high school at Far Eastern University. She pursued political science at the same university, but eventually dropped out.
In one of the episodes of It's Showtime, she shared some of the reasons why she didn't finish the program.
Ang dami kong in-explore," she shared, including her gender, sexuality, and skills.
She was a scholar from grade school through her second year in college. However, she developed a passion for joining Miss Gay pageants, which led to the loss of her scholarship. She shared that she was already in her fourth year and working on her thesis when she decided to drop out of college.
Despite this, she has been an active advocate for education. She recently spoke on the role of campus journalism in fighting injustice, disinformation, and corruption during the 27th Inkblots at the University of Santo Tomas last January. She has also supported various initiatives by donating to an elementary school in Bulusan, Sorsogon, and sponsoring the studies of students, including former child star Amy Nobleza, who graduated magna cum laude from Lyceum of the Philippines University-Manila.
She also spoke out on education policies, including the Supreme Court's 2018 ruling upholding the removal of Filipino, Panitikan, and Philippine Constitution as core subjects in the K-12 program.
Other than hosting It's Showtime, Vice Ganda is best known for her box-office hits, including Private Benjamin, Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy, The Mall The Merrier, and Call Me Mother, among others.
