'Superman' cast, director make halo-halo for the first time with Abi Marquez

The cast and crew of the upcoming action flick Superman just gained a new appreciation for halo-halo after their meetup with food content creator Abi Marquez.

In a promotional video, Marquez had a chance to teach the film's stars David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan as well as its director James Gunn on how to make the popular cold dessert in the Philippines.

"So it's like a snow cone?" Gunn asked.

"Yeah, it's like a snow cone, but a lot of solid ingredients," Marquez explained.

During the whole experience, Corenswet, Brosnahan, and Gunn kept the mood fun by cracking some lighthearted jokes about each other's halo-halo.

"That is trashy-looking. It looks like you're three years old," Gunn told Corenswet as he pointed to his rather messy halo-halo creation.

In the end, the three took the desserts and met up with their fans to have them try their dishes.

"See, they didn't want to eat yours," Gunn told Corenswet, much to their amusement.

Marquez earlier teased fans about her meeting with the Superman crew as she posted a group picture of them seemingly preparing a lumpia dish.

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s… Lumpia Queen with the SUPER Crew - Director James Gunn, David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan," the post's caption read.

Corenswet, Brosnahan, and Gunn visited the Philippines for their first official Superman fan meet held at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall last June 19.

"This is a movie about goodness, about hope. There’s so much bitterness, so much anger in the world – this is about a guy that’s different from that," Gunn told the media during the event.

After Manila, their only stop in Southeast Asia, the cast and crew will head to other cities in the world, including London (July 2), Paris (July 4), Los Angeles (July 7), New York (July 9), and Beijing (July 10).

Aside from Corenswet and Brosnahan, Superman stars Nicholas Hoult, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, María Gabriela de Faría, Wendell Pierce, Alan Tudyk, Pruitt Taylor Vince, and Neva Howell.

The new Superman movie will explore the titular character's journey to reconcile his alien heritage with his adoptive human family.
