'Ito talaga 'yung worst': Cristine Reyes shares the breaking point of her marriage
Actress Cristine Reyes recently revealed what it was that finally signaled to her that her past marriage was over.
In a free-wheeling conversation with sisters Belle and Ava Daza on their The Sexytime Podcast, one of the topics Reyes touched on was her traumatic past, including her 2016 marriage to her ex.
Without naming him, Reyes traced how they got together.
"Ayoko ng showbiz. So sumama 'ko dito sa non-showbiz. Parang it was something new. So du'n ako medyo nadala," the actress said.
"May pagka-bad boy feels," she described her ex. "Naka-motorcycle, tapos fighter. Siyempre na-impress ka."
She was in her early 20s then, and had been in showbiz for over 10 years. Before they got married, Reyes got pregnant, which she saw as a signal for a wedding.
Wala, mali pala," Reyes said.
Although her family was against the decision, she went ahead and got married. It turned out to be a wrong move. In the marriage, she relayed that she experienced abuse.
Reyes didn't say anything, though because according to her, "Sino maniniwala?
The breaking point, said Reyes, came on their wedding anniversary.
Reyes said. "'Pag sa wedding anniversary namin, wala siyang ginawa...flowers man lang or...dinner..."
Apparently, her ex did none of those, "so nakipaghiwalay ako sa kanya. Sabi ko sa kanya, 'Tanungin mo sarili mo, for five years na magkasama tayo, did you ever ask me out on a date?'" Reyes said.
But anyway, wala siyang masagot," Reyes added.
Reyes was previously married to mixed martial arts fighter Ali Khatibi. Their marriage has since been annulled, though they continue to co-parent their daughter.
In August 2025, Reyes confirmed a new romance with a non-showbiz personality, whom, as Reyes shared in the podcast, she first met when both of them were in grade school, attending the Ateneo school fair.
