Would you do a "shoey"?
Harry Styles’ world tour has been one for the books. Just recently, he accidentally ripped a huge hole in his pants during his California show. This time, he trended online after chugging a drink from his shoe at his concert in Perth, Australia.
The 29-year-old singer-actor tried one of the country’s common practices—a "shoey"—which he described as “one of the most disgusting traditions ever.” He poured some water into his Adidas x Gucci Gazelle sneaker and drank it onstage.
“I feel like a different person,” he joked.
“I feel ashamed of myself. It feels so personal, such an intimate moment to be shared with so many people,” he went on.
“I will be discussing this with my therapist at length," he said with a laugh.

To do a shoey, one must pour liquor (not water) into a shoe and then chug it. Whether this Australian tradition brings good luck or serves as a punishment remains unclear, but people seem to have fun doing it.
According to a New York Times report in 2019, Harry was previously asked to do a shoey but he refused it. “I’m not going to drink out of a bloody shoe. Are you mad?” he said at the time.
Other famous personalities and musicians who have tried the Australian tradition are American singer and rapper Post Malone, Machine Gun Kelly, Luke Bryan, Jimmy Fallon, and Formula One driver Daniel Ricciardo.
