Donald Glover, known by his musical stage name Childish Gambino, opened up about his silent battle with a stroke that caused him to cancel his tour in September 2024.

During his show at the Camp Flog Gnaw festival, Glover recalled an incident during his tour that made him require immediate medical attention.

"I was doing this world tour. I was having lots of fun, really loving seeing you guys out there. I had a really bad pain in my head in Louisiana, and I did the show anyway. I couldn't see well," he said. "So when we went to Houston, I went to the hospital, and the doctor was like, 'You had a stroke."

At first, Glover joked that he was copying fellow actor and comedian Jamie Foxx, who suffered a stroke in 2023, but he then admitted his fears about the condition and how he felt that he was "letting everybody down."

He went on to share other health issues that he experienced lately.

"I've broken my foot. I always promise Ireland I'm gonna be there, and I still haven't been, and they found a hole in my heart, so I had to do surgery, and then I had to have another surgery," the singer shared.

However, he is now striving to keep a positive outlook and expressed his appreciation for his fans.

"They say everybody has two lives, and the second life starts when you realize you have one. You got one life, guys. And I gotta be honest, the life I've lived with you guys has been such a blessing. I love singing and performing for you guys," he highlighted.

"You should be living your life how you want because if we have to do this again, it can only get better," he added.

Glover rose to fame through his breakout role in the sitcom Community before gaining widespread recognition as Childish Gambino, releasing groundbreaking music alongside creating the award-winning series Atlanta.

He has since starred in other popular films and shows, including Spider-Man: Homecoming, Adventure Time, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and more.
