Marco Gumabao is not one to hold grudges against past girlfriends, including Cristine Reyes.

In late May, Reyes hard-launched her engagement to corporate executive Gio Tingson with a photo carousel of the two enjoying Hong Kong. In several of the photos, a diamond ring could be seen on Reyes' ring finger. "Every timeline led here. Endgame unlocked," she captioned her post.

When The Philippine STAR asked Gumabao how he felt when he learned about Reyes' engagement, he was not shy to share his delight.

"I'm super happy. I've known Cristine ever since Tubig at Langis days. Kumbaga, may pinagsamahan kami even before the relationship," Gumabao said, referring to their 2016 teleserye.

"We started off as friends. We ended the relationship as friends," he said.

Gumabao then congratulated Reyes on her engagement. "I'm sure that Gio will take care of her," he added.

It turns out Gumabao and Tingson have known each other for several years. The actor shared his sister and Tingson were friends in high school.

"He's a great guy, so I'm sure Cristine is in good hands. And I'm happy for them," he said. "Cristine deserves to be loved. Sadly, our relationship didn't work. Ganu'n talaga. We move on, but we don't hold grudges. We pray for the other person as much as possible. And no bitterness. 'Yun lang naman ang buhay."

When asked about the current status of his love life, Gumabao laughed. "Wala. Single, and happily single," he said. "Focusing on myself, focusing on my health and everything else."

According to the actor, what he enjoys most about not being romantically attached to anyone is controlling his own time. "I think it's time for me to just take a back seat from dating," he said.

Gumabao and Reyes were officially together from April 2023 until they sparked breakup rumors in April 2025 after appearing to have unfollowed each other on Instagram.

Prior to their relationship, Reyes married martial artist Ali Khatibi in 2016. But their marriage was annulled in 2019. They share a daughter, whom they co-parent.

As for her current timeline, Reyes has been with her fiancé since 2025, when fans saw them attending several events together. The couple met when Tingson was in Grade 7 and Reyes in Grade 6, at a marriage booth during an Ateneo de Manila University grade school fair.
