Ben Affleck finally addresses 'Gone Girl' shower scene prosthetic rumors
Ben Affleck has finally cleared up speculation about whether he wore a prosthetic during his full-frontal shower scene in the 2014 psychological thriller Gone Girl.
In an interview with Variety published on Oct. 7, the actor confirmed that he did not use a prosthetic for the scene, which featured his character, Nick Dunne, alongside Rosamund Pike's Amy Dunne.
“I wore no prosthesis,” Affleck said. “I've only worn one in one film, Hollywoodland. It was a nose.”
Affleck previously joked about filming the scene while accepting an award at the 2014 Hollywood Film Awards, as per PEOPLE. He recalled that director David Fincher had assured him the camera would not reveal too much.
“David assured me—because trust is essential with directors and actors—‘Listen, if we tilt down, we'll never go far enough to see anything,’” he said at the time.
More than a decade later, Affleck continues to speak highly of his experience working with Fincher. In an interview with Letterboxd on Oct. 6, he said he was willing to do anything for the filmmaker.
