Published Mar 18, 2025 6:41 pm

Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu was laid to rest at Chin Pao San Cemetery on Saturday, March 15. Her family and relatives gathered to pay their final respects.

Hsu’s husband, South Korean DJ Koo, led the service carrying her ashes to the burial site. He was accompanied by Hsu’s two children, her mother, and other family members. Her ex-husband, Wang Xiaofei, was not in sight.

The funeral took place in New Taipei, Taiwan, 41 days after she had passed away.

A source told SBS that "the family did not want to be disturbed, so they requested that the media not expose the funeral proceedings."

Koo, who was dressed in a black suit, was said to have carried Barbie Hsu's urn.

SBS said a Hsu statue will be built at Jinbaoshan Memorial Park for fans to pay respects

Hsu was best known for her role on the hit 2001 television series Meteor Garden, playing the spunky and bright-eyed Shancai.

She died of pneumonia after contracting influenza during a Lunar New Year celebration in Japan. She was 48.

According to reports, Hsu's assets, estimated at 600 million yuan (P4.7 billion), will be split between Koo Jun-yup, her 10-year-old daughter, and her 8-year-old son. But since her children are still minors, their biological father will manage their inheritance, Hsu's ex-husband Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei.
