Xian Lim has opened up on his breakup with Kim Chiu, revealing how he and his family received “death threats” and “makeup lies” following their split.

In his interview with GMA showbiz reporter Nelson Canlas, the Love.Die.Repeat actor admitted that talking about the breakup on camera was difficult, and while he acknowledges the pain that their fans feel, he lamented, "It's gotten out of hand na and that's just the painful part of it.”

"Sasabihin nila na nag-iingay si Xian because may pelikula, no,” he continued.

“We really did explain from the bottom of our hearts kung ano talaga ang nangyari. Hindi na namin kailangan pa isa-isahin kung sino ang nagkulang because it’s just like any other relationship,” he added.

He stressed, "I do not deserve the false accusations, the lies being spread," he added.

Xian furthered that he’s “working really hard” and that he refuses to be defined by his breakup and by other people’s opinions about him.

“I work really hard. We are all working really hard. I don’t want to be defined by what happened with my breakup or my previous relationship. I don’t want to be defined by what people are saying about me—these false headlines, o kung ano man,” he expressed.

Following the split, Xian revealed that his family was also gravely affected that they were receiving “death threats” and “false accusations.”

“Sige, ako na po ‘yung tirahin nila, but not my family,” he said.

“Nadadamay na rin kasi ‘yung nanay ko pati ‘yung lola ko. They’re getting personal messages. I’m getting death threats. My mom’s getting death threats. Umabot sa ganun, that’s the gravity of the situation I’m dealing with now,” he said.

“My family doesn’t deserve all the makeup lies,” he lamented.

The actor also stressed that he and Kim ended on good terms and that he is open to working with her again in the future.

“We ended [on] good terms; Of course, merong iyakan..we’re people e,” he said, adding, “In time na mabigyan kami ng pagkakataon na mag-trabaho, why not?

Months after the split and confirming her new romance with film producer Iris Lee, Xian said his heart is “okay.”

“It’s okay, doing great. Kailangan laging masaya.” he said, adding that he now prefers to keep his love life private.

“I really would like to keep my personal life, especially sa love, private because it’s just so hard. For 11 or 12 years, that was an open book,” he said.

Xian officially confirmed his romance with Iris in May after sparking dating rumors in December 2023.

He also clarified that they started dating after his split with Kim Chiu—whom he was with for almost 12 years—refuting rumors that a third party was involved in the cause of his split with the latter.

“There's no third party. That's it. That plain and simple,” he stressed. Prior to the confirmation, they were spotted together on multiple occasions, including going to motorcycle riding school together with their friends.

Currently, the couple is working on a new film. They have shared behind-the-scenes snaps of their production in Thailand.
