Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner deny Ray J’s claims that they intentionally leaked the 2007 sex tape

Kim Kardashian and her mother Kris Jenner have denied Ray J's “disgusting” allegation that they deliberately leaked the infamous 2007 sex tape that featured him and the reality TV star.

The mother-daughter duo sued the 45-year-old singer for defamation in October 2025. Amid their ongoing legal battle, Ray J claimed that Kardashian, 45, and Jenner, 70, purposefully released the tape.

In their court declarations obtained by PEOPLE Magazine, Kardashian and Jenner slammed Ray J's claims, saying they're all lies.

“His claim that I had a plan with my mother and others to release a sex tape, defraud the public and file a ‘fake’ lawsuit against the porn company that released it to ‘create buzz’ is a lie,” Kardashian says, per her court declaration filed in Los Angeles on Tuesday, March 10.

She added that she has “incurred expenses to combat” Ray J’s “lies and manage my wellbeing and reputation,” which involved attending therapy and consulting with “communications, legal and strategic advisors.”

For her part, Jenner also said the claims are “absolutely false,” underscoring that she played no part in filming or releasing her daughter’s private video.

“As a mother, the notion that I orchestrated or produced sex tapes involving my daughter, or was in any way involved in the creation or distribution of any sex tapes, is not only entirely untrue but deeply offensive and harmful and has haunted me for decades,” Jenner said in her declaration.

She continued that as a mother, she is “absolutely heartbroken, crushed and devastated” to see her daughter’s private life exposed to everyone.

“In no world would I ever be involved in any way, shape or form in peddling any tapes of my daughter like this. Defendant’s insinuations to the contrary are utterly false and disgusting,” Jenner added.

Jenner continued that she faced costs from the emotional distress caused by Ray J’s “awful lies” and denied filing a “fake” lawsuit to generate publicity before the tape’s release.

Both Kardashian and Jenner also reject Ray J’s claims that they were involved in racketeering and violated RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) laws.

Ray J's counterclaims

After Kardashian and Jenner filed the defamation lawsuit in October, Ray J fired back with a response and cross-complaint the following month, denying their claims, calling it “a public relations charade” filled with “malicious falsehoods about Norwood."

He further claimed they breached a $6 million (over P357 million) settlement agreement from 2023 related to the tape, as well as accused them of creating a “fake Sex Tape controversy” to promote their show, The Kardashians, in 2022, and says the series falsely portrayed him as extorting the family.

Ray J is seeking $1 million (over P59 million) in damages and dismissal of Kardashian’s defamation suit, while his attorney called her statements “demonstrably false” and potentially perjurious.

Both sides are asking the court to throw out the other’s claims, with a ruling expected soon, per the reports.

Ray J and Kardashian dated for three years in the early 2000s. The tape was released in May 2007 by adult entertainment company Vivid Entertainment, which also propelled Kardashian to fame, with the Kardashian-Jenner family’s reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians debuting on E! later that same year.

The singer, whose real name is William Ray Norwood Jr., claimed the 2003 sex tape with Kardashian was filmed consensually and that discussions about releasing it began in 2006, with Kardashian allegedly involving her mother and signing agreements with Vivid Entertainment.
