SEVENTEEN’s Hoshi suffers knee injury, to undergo surgery
Just months before his expected military discharge in March 2027, SEVENTEEN member Hoshi will undergo knee surgery after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury during a military service rehearsal.
In his Weverse post, the K-pop star shared the sad news with fans, stating that he sustained the knee injury while participating in training during his mandatory military service.
"I'm writing this carefully because the news may come as a surprise," he wrote, as translated by The Korea Times. "I injured my knee while rehearsing with the Army performance team and underwent an examination, which found that I had completely torn my ACL."
According to Harvaard Health, an ACL injury "is a sprain or tear in which the ligament is stretched beyond its normal range." Treatment typically includes RICE (rest, ice, compression, and elevation), bracing, rehabilitation, and, in severe cases, surgery.
Hoshi said he will undergo surgery and will be doing rehabilitation. He also said that he will no longer be able to participate in the scheduled Taekwondo Demonstration Team events and the Ground Forces Festival.
"I had been working hard to prepare because these were performances I had been looking forward to, so I'm very disappointed that I won't be able to take part," he said. "I also feel sorry for CARATs who have been waiting for them."
Despite this, Hoshi asked for continued support for his fellow performers, which includes fellow SEVENTEEN member Woozi, or Ji-hoon..
"Although I won't be able to join them, please give lots of support to the taekwondo demonstration team and the Ground Forces performance team with Ji-hoon," he said.
In his message, he added that he will focus on his recovery and ended the post with "Horanghae," a combination of horangi (tiger) and saranghae (I love you).
Hoshi enlisted in September 2025 alongside SEVENTEEN's Wonwoo and Woozi. The group's enlistments have continued throughout 2026, with Vernon and DK entering service over the summer, followed by Mingyu on Sept. 10. Seungkwan and Dino are slated to enlist together this Oct. 26.
