Pokwang seeks help from NBI after scammer used her home address for bogus resort

Published Feb 25, 2025 3:57 pm

Comedian-actress Pokwang sought help from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to file charges against a scammer who used her home address in Antipolo for a fake staycation.

In her interview with 24 Oras, Pokwang detailed that victims would come to her house for a supposed booked stay.

“Minsan, sa loob ng isang araw, ang kumakatok na tao dito, tatlo hanggang limang biktima sa isang araw lang ‘yun. At karamihan doon, nagda-down na,” she said,.

According to the report, the bogus staycation resort named Sunnyside Resort used Pokwang’s home address from December 2024 until this year’s Valentine’s season.

“Magaganda yung mga pino-post doon sa account niya…Ikaw naman ma-e-engganyo ka talaga. Pero wala talagang ganoong resort,” the TiktoClock host said.

The victims, said to have paid P5,000 to P10,000 for downpayment, weren’t able to get refunds because they would get blocked by the scammer.

Pokwang said she had no idea how the scammer used her home address. They have also put up a notice on their gate that reads, “This is private property. We are not affiliated [with] any resort in Antipolo or anywhere else. Please help us report their page as a scam.”

The comedian formally filed the complaint to the NBI Cybercrime division on Monday, Feb. 24. She also stressed that she is determined to file charges against the scammer.

“Natatakot ako para sa family ko. Nilagay mo sa risk yung buhay ng pamilya ko. Kaya hindi kita titigilan. Kakasuhan ko siya,” she said.

She also encouraged victims to file a report against the scammer.

“Magsama-sama tayo, huwag natin titigilan hangga’t ‘di nakukulong ‘yan,” she said.

NBI Cybercrime Division Executive Officer Vanessa Asuncion reminded the public to book resorts via regulated platforms and to go on an ocular to see if the property is legitimate.
