Andrea Brillantes is enjoying her solo artist era.

During a media conference for Senior High on Jan. 9, the 20-year-old actress shared she prefers not to work on a love team for her personal growth as an actress, but said she is open to work on a Girls Love (GL) project with Xyriel Manabat

Brillantes said that she wants to stray away from the usual love teams since working as a solo allows her to explore and know herself more in her craft.

“Ang dami ko pong pinagdaanan na shows ko na lagi ako may nagiging ka-partner, tapos nung nagkaroon ako lang ako ng opportunity na ‘Uy parang pwede na ako mag solo artist,’ parang gusto ko siya i-explore,” she said.

In the past, Brillantes has been paired with different actors, including Grae Fernandez, Seth Fedelin, and Juan Karlos Labajo.

The Senior High star added that she is enjoying not being in a love team. "Mas nakikilala ko kasi yung sarili ko bilang isang akres. Mas marami lang po ako puwedeng paglaruan at mas madami akong puwedeng makatrabaho na bago," she said.

"Ang tagal ko lang kasing madaming partners; I wanted something new and habang bata pa ako mas madali pang mag-explore and habang hindi pa ako super sanay, para ‘di ako maging super dependent kung magkakapartner ako,” she explained.

While she doesn't want to be on a love team, Brillantes said she's open to doing a GL project with her Senior High co-star, Xyriel Manabat.

"I mean, pansin po lang kasi, there's a lot of BL series now; Hindi pa po masyadong marami sa GL. So like, if ever lang naman po, I would be comfortable doing it with my best friend," she said, pertaining to Manabat.

“Kasi magaling siyang actress eh, and madami kaming makukuha sa isa't isa," she added.

For her part, Manabat said she’s also open to working on such a project, especially since she wants to do her first on-screen kissing scene with the same sex.

"Feeling ko kung mag-o-on cam ako or on-screen na first kissing scene, gusto ko talaga sa babae, kasi feeling ko mas komportable ako 'pag ganoon and feeling ko, walang ilangan, less issue, less hassle,” she said.

“Experience siya eh, so parang fulfilling siya for an experience of an actress," she added, revealing that she teased Brillantes on doing a GL series before.

Brillantes is known for her roles in the series Annaliza, Kadenang Ginto, and Drag You & Me, among others. She also owns a makeup brand Lucky Beauty.

Manabat, meanwhile, is notable for her roles in the series 100 Days to Heaven, Dirty Linen, and Senior High.
