Kate Middleton reveals she has cancer, says she has been doing everything to 'process and manage this privately'

Kate Middleton announced that she is battling cancer.

After weeks of speculation and numerous conspiracy theories, the Princess of Wales has finally addressed the public through a video saying that she has been diagnosed with cancer.

"I just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you personally, for all the wonderful messages of support and for your understanding whilst I've been recovering from surgery," she started.

"It has been an incredibly tough couple of months for our entire family. But I've had a fantastic medical team who've taken great care of me for which I'm so grateful."

Kate said that in January, she underwent major abdominal surgery in London, but at that time, the doctors said her condition was non-cancerous.

However, after taking some tests post-operation, results showed that cancer had been present. Kate said that her medical team advised her to undergo preventive chemotherapy and that she is now in the early stages of the treatment.

"This of course came as a huge shock and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family," Kate continued.

"As you can see, it has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis. In a way that's appropriate for them and to reassure them that I'm going to be okay," she ended.

This announcement follows speculation surrounding Kate's whereabouts since January. Back then, Kensington Palace revealed she underwent a planned abdominal surgery, but didn't comment on the reason. They said she would be staying in the hospital for two weeks and would likely return to public duties only after Easter.

Earlier this March, she stirred controversy after her Mother’s Day photo was found to be digitally altered. News agencies like AFP, The Associated Press, Getty, and Reuters removed the photo from their websites.
