Julie Anne San Jose has issued an apology over her controversial performance at a church event.

The actress shared her message on her social media accounts on Oct. 10 after Sparkle GMA Artist Center took full responsibility for her attendance at the event.

"I am offering my apologies. Even though my only intentions were to share joy and to give support to the church through the benefit concert, many have felt offended about the incident I was in and with my performance which caused distress," San Jose wrote.

"This is a lesson learned and it is assured that it will not be repeated."

The actress went on to say that her beliefs and faith are "unbreakable" and "cannot be shaken" amidst the controversy.

"I pray that we can all move forward with compassion in our hearts.

On Oct. 6, San Jose appeared at a benefit concert at the Nuestra Señora del Pilar Shrine. The show was aimed to raise funds for the church's construction.

The singer-actress was criticized for performing songs like ABBA's Dancing Queen and Lady Gaga's The Edge of Glory.

Sparkle GMA Artist Center issued a statement taking responsibility for the incident on Oct. 9. It said that San Jose "only fulfilled her duties as a true professional."

"She is a devout Catholic and had no intention of disrespecting the Church or its members."
