"We don’t just remember EDSA to bask in some nostalgic glow. We remember it because it thrust a monumental responsibility onto our shoulders, right here, right now," he added.
He stressed that the democracy earned from the uprising means recognizing that it requires constant vigilance and participation.
"Commemoration must ignite a fire, compelling us to action. This isn’t just history; this is our unfinished business, and it’s on us to rise up and finish what was started," he concluded.

Rica Peralejo
On Threads, actress Rica Peralejo-Bonifacio shared her sentiments about remembering today's event.
"How do I even celebrate today when what happened 40 years ago we have come to undo in the last elections?" she lamented.
"I think those days are long gone so let me just whisper a silent prayer of thanks for those who stood up for what’s right back then. And also the deepest regrets that this is not honored enough these days. Only God knows where our country will go," she continued.
"Let me also add my respect and honor for those who continue to stand today. I still do, also. In my own ways. Forgive me if I am a bit disheartened as this is not the majority these days and that many of us prefer to undo such a beautiful fight for what is right," she concluded.
