Chadwick Boseman's family sues his widow after she allegedly kept estate funds to herself
The family of the late Chadwick Boseman has taken legal action against his widow Taylor Simone Ledward for allegedly withholding assets from the actor's estate.
In a report by PEOPLE, Chadwick's brothers Kevin and Derrick claimed that Ledward failed to properly distribute the actor's remaining estate assets since he passed away in 2020. Because of this, they requested that she be removed as estate administrator.
The petition stated that Ledward is entitled to 50% of Chadwick's estate because he died without a will approximately six days after they wed in 2020, while his parents Leroy and Carolyn are supposedly entitled to 25%.
However, Ledward "continues to exercise complete control" over the assets without input from the couple.
Chadwick's estate reportedly includes a $40,000 (P2.4 million) Life Long-Term Care Policy to mom Carolyn, which the petition claimed was never distributed to her.
Additionally, Kevin and Derrick alleged that Ledward is "concealing assets from Decedent’s family and from the Court," detailing that there are additional assets such as “royalties and residuals, image and intellectual property rights, real property, a previously undisclosed bank account at CNB, and other personal property.”
They further asserted that Ledward has "blocked" Chadwick’s family from “pursuing lucrative business opportunities that might benefit Decedent’s elderly parents.”
Chadwick died in 2020 after his four-year battle with colon cancer. He was known for his work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the superhero Black Panther.
