Good news, motorists: You can enjoy free toll on SMC expressways on Christmas, New Year

San Miguel Corporation (SMC) announced that toll fees on expressways will be waived on select hours on Christmas and New Year.

The Philippine STAR reported on Friday, Dec. 20 that fees on SMC's expressways—including the Skyway System, NAIA Expressway (NAIAX), South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), STAR Tollway, and Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX)—will be waived from 10 p.m. on Dec. 24, until 6 a.m. on Dec. 25, and from 10 p.m. on Dec. 31, until 6 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2025.

SMC Chairman Ramon S. Ang said it's their way of thanking those who have been using the expressways they're operating.

Patrollers and security personnel will also be deployed in critical areas, while emergency response personnel will be on alert. Tow trucks and other emergency vehicles will also be in place for quick response.

To keep traffic flow in control, roadworks will likewise be suspended from Dec. 20 to Jan. 3.  

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) earlier issued a notice on the number coding suspension on Dec. 24, 25, 30, 31, and Jan.1.
