A chance to join Rachel Chu's world: 'Crazy Rich Asians' opens casting call for two characters
This is your chance to join Rachel Chu and Nick Young's glamorous world.
Crazy Rich Asians author Kevin Kwan took to social media to share that HBO and Firefly Casting are looking for actors to join the upcoming series continuing the hit film.
"Calling all superstars," he captioned the casting call.
According to his post, the show is looking to cast two characters from talent all over the globe: Posy and William.
Posy is an East Asian woman in her 30s. She's described as beautiful, glamorous, and brazenly ambitious.
"Posy is a former socialite and social climber whose marriage to a notorious tycoon has come crashing down," the post read, adding that the character is "flamboyant, shameless, and unapologetic, with an insatiable appetite for wealth, status, and attention. Equal parts outrageous, calculating, and oddly endearing."
If you're considering auditioning, also note that the character is fluent in English and is familiar with Mandarin.
Meanwhile, William is a Chinese man in his 20s, who is charismatic, handsome, and the wildly wealthy son of a Shanghai real estate billionaire.
He's also characterized as a thrill-seeking "princeling" with a mischievous streak and a big personality. But there's more to him, as William is actually open-hearted and warm.
Actors eyeing the role must be fluent in English and conversational in Mandarin.
