'Pokémon UNITE' is shutting down in March 2027
Pokémon UNITE will end services in March 2027, bringing the free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena game to a close after nearly six years.
In an announcement on its official website, the game’s developers said service will end on March 23, 2027, at 8 a.m. Philippine time, affecting both Nintendo Switch and mobile versions.
“We offer our sincerest gratitude to the many Trainers who have played since service started for the Nintendo Switch version on July 21, 2021,” the announcement read. “We hope you continue to enjoy Pokémon UNITE until the final day of service.”
As part of the shutdown, sales of Aeos Gems, the game’s premium currency, have been suspended as of Oct. 27. New UNITE Club memberships and automatic renewals have also stopped, although existing members can continue using their benefits until their current membership period ends. Players can spend their remaining Aeos Gems until the game shuts down.
The game will also receive a special event and update on Nov. 12, allowing players to obtain various in-game items, including Unite licenses and Holowear that have appeared in previous releases.
Pokémon UNITE will introduce a “library” feature that will let players access certain game records and content after the shutdown. Players must download the required library data before the game's service ends to use the feature afterward.
Once the game shuts down, players will no longer be able to log in or participate in battles. The library data generally cannot be transferred between devices, and support for the feature will no longer be available after the shutdown.
Pokémon UNITE launched on Nintendo Switch on July 21, 2021, before arriving on mobile devices in September of the same year. The game features five-on-five team battles in which players control Pokémon and work together to score points against the opposing team.
