Still buzzing about Alex Eala's historic championship run?

The 21-year-old Filipina tennis star made history after becoming the first Filipino to win a WTA 500 singles title, capping off a dream run at the Mubadala DC Open.

If you've ever dreamed of following in her footsteps—or you're simply looking for a new hobby or a fun side quest—now might be the perfect time to pick up a racket and give it a try.

For those in Metro Manila or nearby cities, Quezon City is offering free tennis training this August.

The sessions are open to beginners and will be held every Sunday this August, starting Aug. 9, at the Quezon Memorial Circle Lawn Tennis Court from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m.

Those who want to join can register through the appropriate link based on their age group—kids ages 7 to 14, or adults ages 15 and above. Be sure to secure your slot early, as slots are limited.

Meanwhile, those in Cebu, specifically in Aloguinsan, can also take advantage of a free lawn tennis training program.

The Municipality of Aloguinsan is holding free training sessions every Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. at the tennis court beside the Municipal Hall.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own tennis racket, wear rubber shoes, and come in proper sports attire.

Meanwhile, those in Samal, Davao del Norte can also get the chance to experience tennis coaching through a special training program. Ollis Food Cafe is offering a free tennis training experience consisting of three sessions, with two hours of coaching per session, for a total of six hours. Training will be conducted as a group once five qualified participants have secured their spots.

To qualify, customers simply need a single receipt worth at least P1,000. The offer is limited to the first five qualified customers and runs until Aug. 10.

The training will be led by Coach Alie Naromal-Padillo at Samal Tennis Club in San Agustin. Tennis rackets will be provided free to participants, although court fees are not included. The training schedule will be arranged once all five participants have qualified.
