Lara Quigaman-Alcaraz revealed she was rushed to the hospital after suffering from severe chest pain she never felt before.

In her social media posts on Feb. 3, the former beauty queen recounted how they had to call 911 in November as she was experiencing intense chest pain.

"Last November, Marco had to call 911 as I was having severe chest pain, unlike I’ve ever felt before. I was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance, and since then I’ve had a series of tests to find out what’s happening with my heart," she wrote. In the post, she included a photo of herself being attended to by paramedics in her home, and another photo of herself lying on a hospital bed.

The cause wasn’t revealed, but Lara said doctors determined the pain wasn’t related to her heart. She’s also being monitored to make sure her heart is functioning normally.

"Today, a few more tests were done to make sure there are no blockages. I had to be at the hospital for more than four hours, but those hours also meant having the time to reflect and pray," she wrote.

Lara admitted that she feels anxious while waiting for results, particularly when she experiences pain in her chest or shortness of breath.

"Sometimes I feel anxious, waiting for results and especially when I feel pain in my chest area or when I feel short of breath. But I am grateful for this season. God is teaching me to trust and be still before Him and to give Him my heart—literally," she wrote.

"If you are going through something similar, if you feel fear or uncertainty, may this be a reminder to be still and know that God is God and to give your heart to Jesus too. He loves you, He will always be faithful, and He is in control," she concluded. "The happiest heart is the one resting in God’s hands."

Lara and Marco first tied the knot in a civil wedding ceremony in Vancouver in 2011. The two officially moved to Canada in January 2025 with their three kids, Noah, Tobias, and Moses. She now works there as an early childhood educator.
