Miss Earth organization welcomes first Iranian candidate in 21 years
Hima Zaker is making history as the first Iranian beauty queen to compete in the Miss Earth 2021 pageant in 21 years.
The 27-year-old beauty queen was first introduced in Miss Earth’s “Eco Video” at the pageant’s preliminary competition. Zaker described Iran as a country known for its “architecture, rich literature, cultural encounters, traditional food, ancient civilizations, and spectacular nature.”
According to Zaker’s introduction video, she currently works as a veterinarian and part-time model. The beauty queen also revealed that she’s a professional swimmer “who loves all sports in general.”
Online magazine pageant site Missosology said Zaker advocates for environmental awareness and animal rights. She also speaks four languages, namely, English, German, Kurdish, and Turkish.
Like last year, the Miss Earth 2021 pageant will carry out its pre-pageant activities and coronation night through a virtual setup due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The reigning Miss Earth queen is Lindsey Coffey from the US.
Filipina-Syrian Naelah Alshorbaji is set to represent the Philippines in the Miss Earth 2021 pageant.
