Could Gentle Monster be coming to Manila?
Celebrities often inspire us with our fashion and beauty choices. For example, when Son Ye Jin's character in Crash Landing On You was spotted wearing a pair of oversized black square sunnies, it quickly became a hot item. The eyewear in question was HER 01 by the South Korean brand, Gentle Monster.
Gentle Monster is known for its unique and futuristic designs, and its boutiques are as interesting as its products. If you've been to Seoul or other cities like Tokyo, Singapore, or Taiwan, you've probably passed by one of its stores. Now, there's a chance that we may soon have one of our own in the Philippines.
Filipino social media personality and fashion icon Rei Germar—who has collaborated with brands like Louis Vuitton, Celine, and Dior—on Aug. 8 hinted that the celebrity-favorite eyewear brand from South Korea is coming to the country, posting pictures of herself wearing clear sunglasses inside a decorated elevator.
"@gentlemonster is coming to Manila!!!!" she captioned her post, with the hashtag #gentlemonsterxdheygere.
While she didn't give details about the launch, her followers on Instagram left comments on the post sharing their excitement.
One said: "we heard the news here first! can't wait for @gentlemonster to be available in manila!!"
"OMG YAY!!" wrote fellow content creator David Guison, while another Instagram user said "Omggg!!!!! Budol is coming!!!!"
Aside from Rei, the brand also has a celebrity following, with famous fans including Anne Curtis, Heart Evangelista, Shay Mitchell, Billie Eilish, and more.
Barbie's Margot Robbie wore a white MM005 W2 from the Maison Margiela × Gentle Monster eyewear collection to one of her shoots. She paired it with her all-pink bustier top and mini skirt.
BLACKPINK members Rose and Jennie are both fans of this brand. Jennie even collaborated with Gentle Monster twice!
Even Queen Bey has a Gentle Monster in her closet! She was spotted wearing a SCON M01 in her Renaissance video shoot.
While we wait for the official news, check out Gentle Monster's website for the latest designs and collaborations.
