Vogue Australia has a new editor-in-chief!

Australian-born Filipina stylist turned fashion director Christine Centenera has been named as the executive editor of the fashion and lifestyle magazine's Australian edition. This was announced by her predecessor, Edwina McCann, on Dec. 20.

Centenera, sister of TV host Tricia Centenera, had been with the magazine since 2012. She had been in the position of fashion director based between Australia, London, and the US.

With her new appointment, one of the country's top stylists could never happier to take the mantle as editor-in-chief and promised to give fresh ideas on the future covers of the magazine.

"I’m excited to take on this new role and will work to deliver a fresh creativity to the covers of Vogue Australia and across every page of the magazine, championing and nurturing inspiring design and exceptional fashion in Australia and internationally," Centenera said.

She also added that they will celebrate "interesting people and all their achievements, and ideas, with compassion, intelligence and humour; and naturally exploring gender and always championing diversity and originality."

Sharing that she will work in close proximity with their photographers and models, she emphasized that "Vogue Australia must always be the authority on fashion and a reflection of the times."

The fashion enthusiast has had an impressive portfolio during her 11 years with the magazine, having styled the likes of Cate Blanchett, Gisele Bünchden, Naomi Campbell, and Kim Kardashian. She has also lent her talents to several luxury fashion houses, including Louis Vuitton.

McCann said that Centenera is her "natural choice" to take over the reigns in editorial position.

"While I will continue as the magazine's editorial director and publisher, this change will allow me to focus on our expanding and successful Prestige publishing business at News Corp Australia, which also includes Conde Nast titles GQ Australia and Vogue Living," McCann said.
