Fil-Am designer Josie Natori reacts to 'Inventing Anna' underwear request scene: 'Let's send her these'
On top of her intriguing story, convicted con artist Anna Sorokin is known for her lavish fashion taste, which Netflix captured to a tea in Inventing Anna. The con artist namedropped upscale brand names in the series, including the Filipino-American-owned Natori.
In one iconic moment in the show, Sorokin (played by Julia Garner) asked fictional journalist Vivian Kent to bring her underwear more suited to her taste, particularly, "Nothing cheaper than Natori, Bergdorf's."
Natori's CEO, Josie Natori, recently reacted to the infamous scene, saying "Let's send her these," as she put a bundle of undergarments in a paper bag.
The designer was also shown excitedly walking to the elevator and waving goodbye to the camera like she was going to deliver the garments to Sorokin herself.
"On my way!" the video's caption on the Natori Company's Instagram read.
Sorokin, who also went by the name Anna Delvey, first made the headlines in 2018 when she was arrested for scamming banks, hotels, and acquaintances out of $275,000. The 31-year-old was convicted of attempted grand larceny, three counts of grand larceny, and four counts of theft services, and was sentenced to four to 12 years in prison.
During her court appearances, she would wear fashionable dresses instead of her prison-issued Rikers uniform. There's even an Instagram account dedicated to her court looks.
On Feb. 11, 2021, Sorokin was released from prison on parole and is currently under the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for overstaying her visa.
