LOOK: Designer pieces put the spotlight on award-winning Japanese animated film ‘Spirited Away’
“Once you’ve met someone, you never really forget them. It just takes a while for your memories to return.”
This is one of the most unforgettable lines on Spirited Away—one of the most beloved Japanese animated films of all time. Perhaps, a lot of people have resonated with Zeniba’s line, so much so that even though this classic movie—written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki—was created back in 2001, it remains top-of-mind when it comes to anime films.
Without a doubt, Spirited Away has etched its place in great anime, becoming a timeless subject of various creations through the years. The latest one is major luxury fashion house LOEWE, which collaborated with Japanese animation company Studio Ghibli for the second time around. Their most recent tie-up has brought forth a capsule collection inspired by the award-winning masterpiece.
Featuring its well-loved characters like Chihiro, Haku, and Kaonashi, the LOEWE x Spirited Away line features bags, ready-to-wear pieces, and accessories designed with the perfect balance between playful and meticulous elements in mind. In the collection, with prices ranging from P14,300 to P369,700, the animated movie’s different motifs “take on tactile forms, handcrafted by LOEWE artisans using signature techniques including intarsia and embroidery.”
Spirited Away is a 2001 animated film that follows the story of a ten-year-old girl (Chihiro Ogino) who “wanders into a world ruled by gods, witches, and spirits, and where humans are changed into beasts,” according to IMDb. It bagged Best Animated Feature at the 75th Academy Awards in 2003 and other major recognitions.
