LOOK: Celebrities with the most outrageous outfits at the 2025 Met Gala

Published May 06, 2025 9:01 pm

It wouldn't be the Met Gala if there weren't any bizarre, head-turning looks on the red carpet.

This year's theme was Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, and celebrities did not fail to showcase their differing takes on Black dandynism.

According to Vogue, the fashion style, paying homage to the Black community's history, is a fashion revolution, a cultural statement, and "an enduring celebration of individuality."

This year’s hosts were Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and the first panel of all-male co-chairs: Lewis Hamilton, Colman Domingo, Pharrell Williams, A$AP Rocky, and honorary chair LeBron James.

Celebrities flaunted their creativity for this year's theme, while some understood the assignment, others stood out in their bold and eccentric takes on fashion.

Janelle Monáe

Janelle turned heads with her cartoonish suit by Paul Tazewell and Thom Brown that had exaggerated pointy shoulders and a rectangular silhouette.

Underneath the eye-catching suit is a deconstructed sports coat and a skirt in red and black. She topped off the look with a diamond brooch made from 1800 Cristalino Tequila and a monocle attached to her bowler hat.

André 3000

André 3000 made sure to bring all the keys (literally) to stand out at this year's Met Gala. The 49-year-old American rapper-singer donned a zip-up navy jumpsuit, a red hat, and brought a garbage bag. Strapped on his back is a smaller replica of a Steinway Model S baby grand piano. This look coincides with the surprise release of his new seven-song project, 7 piano sketches, which features cover art resembling his Met Gala look.

Anthony Pratt

Australian billionaire Anthony Pratt took the spotlight with his bizarre all shades of green outfit. The suit is adorned with the "Pratt 100% recycled" logo all over the suit and the tie, and he topped off the look with a felt green bowler hat and a pair of blue and black sneakers.

Halle Berry

Halle made a powerful comeback at the Met red carpet as she stood out with her bold and revealing dress at this year's affair. The Catwoman star donned a body-hugging LaQuan Smith dress with a low plunge neckline, and striped sheer cutouts showing off her skin. She paired the dress with a cropped blazer.

Jessica Kayll

British fashion designer Jessica Kayll strayed from this year's theme with her floral ensemble. She donned a beige cropped blazer and ruffled short skirt, with a sheer cape. Her look also featured an exaggerated accessory of orchids on her top and sandals. She topped off the look with a hat and a bag, which were also adorned with purple orchids.

Vittoria Ceretti

Model Vittoria Ceretti turned heads when she wore her custom Moncler x EE72 by Edward Enninful with an exaggerated puffed hood and cropped coat that resembles a folded comforter.

Charli XCX

The brat singer went gothic for this year's affair. Charli wore a three-piece set by Ann Demeulemeester consisting of a black blazer with pointed shoulder pads, high boots, and a sheer train with feather adornments on the edge, complementing her black feather headdress. What made her stand out was her black underwear, which served as her only bottom.

Amelia Gray Hamlin

Amelia was among the pop of colors at the Gala, as she wore an all-red custom Valentino.

The ensemble seemingly had a bizarre combination of a lace scarf that doubled as a cape and a red lace one-piece with knee-high socks. Her shoes drifted away from the red theme as they were black pumps with a bow on the hem.

Her stylist, Danyul Brown, told WWD that he was inspired by Black tailoring and Black fashion icons, particularly the likes of André Leon Talley, Prince, and Dapper Dan.

Aimee Lou Wood

The White Lotus season 3 star put a fun twist on the classic suit for her Met Gala look. On top, her outfit looked sleek and simple as it was a buttoned-up white shirt with a blazer. But as you panned down, the ensemble got more avant-garde as it transitioned into an asymmetrical gown. One of its highlights was the silk sash and the floral adornment on her black heels.

Doja Cat

Doja Cat made sure to add another unforgettable look of hers at the Met with her 80s-inspired ensemble by Marc Jacobs. She donned a sculpted striped bodysuit with a velvet feline print and exaggerated shoulder pads. Completing her look were black tights and Kiki boots.
