LOOK: Miss Universe candidates arrive in the US. What to expect in the coming days
The most beautiful women in the world are already gathered in Florida, US for the much-awaited 69th Miss Universe pageant happening next week!
After a year's delay due to health concerns, the Miss Universe pageant is finally happening, and many of the ladies are getting ready for the big night. The Philippines' bet Rabiya Mateo, who was among the first to fly to the US, arrived last April 9 to attend photoshoots and an event. Miss Universe Singapore Bernadette Belle flew for five days to get to Miami ("three long-haul flights, one connecting flight and an overnight stay at the airport," according to her Instagram post). On the other hand, Miss Universe Great Britain Jeanette Akua, who was just crowned over six weeks ago, still couldn't believe her luck.
But whatever challenges they went through, the delegates have arrived safely (and in style) in Florida—not forgetting to make the airport runway their catwalk! Check out the jet-setting style inspiration from these queens for your next travel:
Since this year's pageant will be different compared to previous years, the delegates are expected to follow COVID-19 safety rules and guidelines during the entirety of the pageant. Here are some of the expectations, as shared by Road to Miss USA:
- Contestants will be tested once they arrive at hotel/ Miss Universe check-In.
- They will be in lockdown at the hotel for 24 hours.
- If the result is positive, the contestant will not be able to compete at the 69th Miss Universe pageant.
- The organization will measure the temperature of the contestants every day.
- Contestants must wear a face mask during the activities.
Throughout the week, the 69th Miss Universe delegates will attend a series of events and activities prior to the pageant, which will be on May 17 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Dates indicated here are US time.
