LOOK: PH's Pauline Amelinkcx wows in custom red Filipiñana for Miss Supranational 2023 national costume
The country's Miss Supranational representative, Pauline Amelinckx, stunned in a custom red terno for Miss Supranational 2023. She called it "The Filipina PAUwer."
In an Instagram post, The Miss Philippines page revealed the 27-year-old beauty queen's national costume, which showcased a modern take on the classic Filipiñana.
The gown, which was created by Ehrran Montoya, embodies "pride, strength, and the willingness of a Filipina to fight for her own freedom and rights."
It features a classic silhouette and pays homage to the traditions of the Philippines with its elegant butterfly sleeves and cascading train.
"A voluminous cascading train is attached to epitomize the daintiness of a Filipina. It is adorned with intricate embroidery details with bead works and paired with a traditional umbrella that is decorated with sparkly 'Okir' patterns," the post continued.
The 'okir' pattern in the umbrella is inspired by plant-based designs and folk motifs that are found in the Southern Philippines.
"Okir or okil is the term for rectilinear and curvilinear plant-based designs and folk motifs that can be usually found among the Moro and Lumad people of the Southern Philippines, as well as parts of Sabah."
The 14th Miss Supranational coronation rites will unfold on July 14 (July 15, 2 a.m. in the Philippines) at the Strzelecki Park, Nowy Sacz in Poland.
Filipino pageant fans can support Pauline by streaming it on Miss & Mister Supranational’s Official YouTube Channel.
