A feminine flair and British elegance from Debbie Co
In her latest collection, Jardin du Soleil Resort ’26, designer Debbie Co focuses on timeless British elegance, reimagined for the tropics.
She says, “Blending British afternoon tea with a tropical ‘Jardin du Soleil’ concept creates a fashion story that feels both refined and sundrenched, like a classic garden party transported to a warm, lush paradise. The elegance and structure of traditional tea culture ground the collection, while the tropical influence softens and brightens it with color, movement, and ease.
“The British afternoon tea element brings in a sense of polish and tradition: think tailored day dresses, soft corsetry, puff sleeves, and midi-length skirts inspired by vintage tea gowns. Details like delicate lace, pleats, high necklines, and subtle ruffles echo the formality of a tea setting. But instead of feeling stiff, these elements are reinterpreted through the Jardin du Soleil lens: lighter, more relaxed, and touched by sunlight.”
The tropical influence transforms the palette and textures. Classic teatime florals evolve into vibrant botanical prints, inspired by hibiscus, palm leaves, and exotic blooms. Colors shift from muted pastels to sunlit tones like mango, coral, golden yellow and fresh green, while still keeping soft creams and ivories as a base. In essence, the fusion creates a unique identity, heritage elegance softened by tropical warmth. It’s graceful but not rigid, colorful but still refined, capturing the charm of British tea culture while embracing the vibrancy and ease of a sunlit garden in the tropics.
To present Jardin du Soleil, she had her “beautiful muses, who embody grace, strength and timeless style” don gowns and dresses in a range of pastels and florals, dramatic black and gold in soft chiffons, flouncy organza, silk and satin.
Debbie would like women to celebrate dressing as an experience rather than simply an occasion, encouraging women to embrace beauty in both life’s grand celebrations and its quieter moments. From a simple lunch meet-up with family and friends to grander events such as weddings and engagements, there is a Debbie Co creation that fits the mood.
Debbie thinks of it as everyday preciousness. “The concept is why save your best pieces for just special milestones or occasions?” she asks. “We are encouraging you to inject playfulness and whimsy into the everyday.”
With her Jardin du Soleil Resort ’26 collection, you can do just that.
