JC Buendia is the next Red Gala designer
The country’s premier intersection of fashion and philanthropy returns to the runway as the Red Charity Gala officially names celebrated couture designer JC Buendia as its featured designer this year. The highly anticipated event will take place on Oct. 3, 2026 at the Manila Peninsula Hotel.
Now on its 14th edition, the Red Charity Gala—organized by Tessa Prieto and Kaye Tinga—continues its longstanding mission of raising funds for the Assumption HS 81 Foundation, the Hope for Lupus Foundation, and the Philippine Red Cross.
Since its launch in 2009, the gala has become one of the country’s most anticipated charity fashion events, showcasing collections from some of the Philippines’ most acclaimed designers, including Dennis Lustico, Furne One, Michael Cinco, Cary Santiago, Ezra Santos, Jojie Lloren, Lesley Mobo, Chito Vijandre, Joey Samson, Rajo Laurel, Ivarluski Aseron, Lulu Tan-Gan and Rhett Eala.
This year, the spotlight turns to Buendia, whose work has long been admired for its understated luxury, architectural tailoring, and refined interpretation of the modern Filipiniana. For this year’s Red Charity Gala, he presents a collection built around a compelling question: Can glamour also be effortless?
“The idea was born from years of seeing women navigate countless formal occasions in exquisite yet restrictive gowns,” explained Buendia. For him, many of those garments often demanded discomfort in the name of elegance.
“This time, I’ll be reimagining evening wear through Asian-inspired silhouettes that celebrate rather than confine the body.”
The collection will feature dresses that skim instead of cling, fabrics that move with the wearer, and thoughtful layering that creates quiet drama. Embellishments remain intentional and restrained, expressing sophistication through subtlety rather than excess.
The result will be luxury that breathes. Elegance that embraces ease. It is a celebration of women who no longer have to endure glamour, but instead wear it with confidence, comfort, and grace.
Supporting Buendia's creative vision while advancing the Red Charity Gala's fundraising mission are this year's event partners, led by presenting sponsor Bench headed by its founder Ben Chan, in cooperation with Vivo, together with Jewelmer, and The Peninsula Manila.
