Miss Universe Philippines 2021 postpones Sept. 25 coronation night
The Miss Universe Philippines 2021 coronation night will not push through on Sept. 25, the organization announced on Sunday, Sept. 19.
The Miss Universe Philippines organization said the final date and other details of the pageant will be announced after getting final approval from the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for “our enhanced plans for the finals.”
“Mounting a safe pageant for all our stakeholders is our number one priority today. This is why we enhanced, even more, all of our safety protocols given our current situation,” the statement read.
Aside from the date of the coronation night, the schedule for the pre-pageant competitions is moved to later dates. The updated schedule includes the following:
Sept. 23: National Costume Competition
Sept. 24: Preliminary Interviews
Sept. 26: Preliminary Swimsuit and Evening Gown Competition
Sept. 29: Last day of voting
Thirty candidates were set to compete for the pageant’s coronation night, but Zambales' Joanna Marie Rabe and Davao City's Ybonne Ortega had to withdraw due to health reasons.
As of this writing, 28 candidates are currently locked in their “pageant bubble” in Pampanga.
The winner, who’s set to succeed reigning queen Rabiya Mateo, will compete in the Miss Universe pageant in Eliat, Israel in December.
